Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Bridgeways websites, accounts, guided text conversations, practice experiences, drafts, memory, voice features, billing, and support. Bridgeways is intended only for people located in the United States who are at least 18 years old.

Bridgeways is parent-led: it is designed primarily for a parent whose adult child has pulled away. The service can support reflection and preparation without requiring the other person to participate.

Bridgeways may collect and process:

• Account and eligibility information, including email address, display name, sign-in records, U.S. and age-18 confirmations, timezone, and policy consent timestamps.
• Relationship and conversation information,including labels, contact-boundary state, user messages, assistant responses, voice transcripts, summaries, and drafts.
• User-approved memory, meaning details a user affirmatively chooses to keep available for future conversations.
• Personal-path information, when enabled, including setup choices and optional narrative, reviewed plan versions, lesson answers and saved exercises, activity, and optional dated check-ins. The current accepted plan guides the Coach automatically for that relationship; lesson answers and saved exercises have separate Coach-use controls.
• Voice and dictation information, including consent, transcript items, call status, duration, and usage. Bridgeways does not store raw microphone audio, short dictation recordings, or generated audio.
• Billing and entitlement information, such as plan, payment status, usage limits, and normalized payment events. Full card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Bridgeways.
• Operational and safety information, such as request IDs, model/provider routing, token and voice usage, cost, errors, and safety category/action. Safety event records are designed not to store the raw message body.

Bridgeways uses information to:

• authenticate accounts and provide the requested service;
• generate guided conversation, non-predictive practice, summaries, drafts, and approved memory;
• use relevant summaries and available messages from your previous conversations to provide continuity across chats;
• enforce user-selected and other stated contact boundaries;
• provide a personal plan, lessons, and progress records; use the current accepted plan in coaching automatically and saved exercises only when selected for Coach use; and propose an AI-created or revised plan only when requested using the inputs selected for that operation;
• classify safety risk, provide static safety responses, prevent misuse, and direct imminent U.S. crises to 911 or 988;
• administer trials, paid access, usage limits, receipts, account export, account deletion, support, and fraud prevention; and
• measure reliability, provider cost, safety performance, and service quality using privacy-minimized operational records.

Bridgeways does not use the service to guarantee contact, a reply, reconciliation, reunion, or any relationship outcome.

Bridgeways uses or plans to use the following providers to operate the service:

• Anthropic for primary text generation and related AI processing.
• OpenAI for safety and summary fallback, realtime voice processing, and speech-to-text transcription.
• Vercel for application hosting.
• Supabase for authentication, database, and account data storage.
• Stripe for checkout, subscriptions, one-time packages, invoices, receipts, and payment records.

Bridgeways sends the context needed for text coaching and related AI processing directly to Anthropic. Limited content may be sent directly to OpenAI for safety or summary fallback. Live voice audio and short dictation recordings are sent directly to OpenAI for realtime processing or speech-to-text transcription when those features are enabled. Each provider route must have verified routing, training, and retention controls before it handles user content.

Anthropic's standard commercial API setting for the Bridgeways organization retains inputs and outputs for up to 30 days. Anthropic may retain data longer when required by law or to enforce its usage policy. Anthropic states that commercial API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default. Bridgeways does not opt in to voluntary sharing of these conversations for model training. This provider retention is separate from Bridgeways' own retention periods below.

OpenAI states that it does not use API data to train its models by default, and Bridgeways does not opt in to voluntary API-content sharing for model training. Under OpenAI's standard API policy, abuse-monitoring logs may include some inputs and outputs for up to 30 days. OpenAI may keep them longer when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect its services or others. Bridgeways disables application-state storage for its OpenAI Responses requests, but that does not remove the standard abuse-monitoring retention.

Bridgeways does not write raw microphone audio or generated voice audio to its application database, file storage, logs, exports, or analytics. Audio is processed by OpenAI during a live voice session or a one-time dictation request. Dictation audio remains in request memory only while it is being transcribed and is not added to the conversation history.

A dictation transcript is returned to the message box for review and editing. It is not sent automatically. It becomes stored conversation text only if the user chooses to send it, after which it follows the text-retention rules below. Live voice transcripts may be stored as conversation text and follow the 90-day raw transcript retention rule.

Live voice requires separate, explicit consent. Dictation begins only after the user activates the microphone control and grants browser microphone permission. A user can choose text instead, stop a recording at any time, and end or mute a live voice session at any time.

• Raw text and voice transcript bodies: retained for 90 days from creation, then purged. Limited metadata needed for security, usage, cost, and integrity may remain without the raw body.
• User-approved memory: retained until the user revokes or deletes the memory, deletes the related content where applicable, or deletes the account. Approved memory is not removed by the 90-day raw-content job.
• Suggested memory: temporary unless the user approves it; expired suggestions are deleted by retention controls.
• Summaries and drafts: retained to provide the service until the user deletes the related content or account, subject to the final counsel-approved policy.
• Current accepted personal plan: the bounded goals and practices you approve remain until you remove the plan, relationship, or account. Your current accepted plan guides the Coach automatically for that relationship. Lesson answers and saved exercises have separate Coach-use controls. An active voice session uses the snapshot from its connection; end it before continuing with a new snapshot after changing the plan or selected exercises.
• Temporary personal-path content: optional setup narrative, generation inputs, unaccepted or superseded plan bodies, and lesson-answer copies expire within 90 days. Saved onboarding conversations expire within 30 days and are included in your account export. Discarding an unfinished onboarding conversation removes its saved replies without removing an accepted plan. An exercise you explicitly save in Saved follows the draft retention above. Activity and check-in records remain available until removed with the item, path, relationship, or account. Limited content-free records may remain to prevent delayed work from restoring removed content.
• Payment records: Stripe may retain transaction, invoice, tax, fraud, and compliance records under its own legal and operational obligations even after a Bridgeways account is deleted. Bridgeways retains only the minimized billing and entitlement records needed for accounting, dispute, and compliance purposes.

Deleting content or an account from Bridgeways does not immediately remove copies already processed by an AI provider. Those copies remain subject to the provider's applicable retention period and legal or safety exceptions. Bridgeways does not promise that a provider can delete an individual API request on demand.

An authenticated user can request an account export. The export is intended to include profile and relationship data, non-expired raw conversation content, summaries, approved or active suggested memory, drafts, retained personal plans and lesson state, activity and check-ins, usage totals, and entitlement history. It excludes other users' data, purged raw content, provider internals, classifier prompts, and Stripe payment credentials.

A user can revoke or delete individual approved memories and can request account deletion after recent reauthentication and typed confirmation. Account deletion is designed to revoke access, end active voice sessions, cancel active Stripe subscriptions, delete user content, anonymize operational records that must remain, and delete the Supabase authentication account. Stripe-controlled payment records may remain as described above.

Personal-path controls let you choose which lesson exercises the Coach can use or remove setup narrative, a plan proposal, a lesson attempt, or a check-in. Removing the current path also removes its journey-created Saved exercises; unrelated Saved notes remain. A new program action then requires a deliberately reviewed and accepted plan. No deleted plan is automatically regenerated.

Bridgeways shares information with the service providers above only as needed to operate, secure, bill, and support the service. Bridgeways may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a reviewed business transaction. Bridgeways does not sell raw conversation content.

Bridgeways uses access controls, row-level database policies, environment-separated credentials, minimized logging, and provider controls intended to protect user information. No system is perfectly secure. Users should avoid including unnecessary identifying or sensitive details about themselves or another person.

Bridgeways uses artificial intelligence. Responses can be incomplete, inaccurate, repetitive, or inappropriate. Bridgeways is not therapy, a therapist, legal advice, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or an emergency service. Do not rely on Bridgeways for a professional or emergency decision.

Bridgeways will post a revised effective date when this policy changes and will provide additional notice when required by law.
